Digital developments for performing musicians

Even page turning doesn’t last forever. That is why we set up this talk about the ideas behind Newzik software, designed to create “a reliable tool that overcomes the limitations of paper scores while at the same time exploiting all of its benefits”. What demands do musicians and publishers have, when they take the step from paper to digital? Isn’t new music the perfect field to explore the digital possibilities in alternative ways of notation? Or are we afraid to let go of what we know? Founder and CEO of Newzik, Raphaël Schumann, has seen renowned orchestras and ensembles switch to his software, like Asko|Schönberg, Wiener Staatsoper and Opéra de Rouen Normandie. Publishers Donemus and Deuss in the Netherlands are working closely with Newzik, as well as with sheet music software developers like nkoda, for example. Both publishers will share their thoughts – and wishes – about digital developments for performing musicians.
